Cyber Crime Investigation Training for Police Officers from Republic of Korea

Good International Cooperation Link to Prevent Cross-Border Cyber Crimes between Taiwan and Korean Police

<From Taipei>

Starting from 21st November, 2011, 12 police officers from Republic of Korea took participation in 5-day Cyber Crime Investigation Training program held by Information Service Industry Association of R.O.C. and Decision Group. In this training program, professional experts from Taiwan Crime Investigation Bureau, National Police University, Coastal Guard Admin, Huafan University, and DaVinci Law Services conducted different lecture sessions in terms of cyber and VoIP crime prevention, legal base for cyber investigation, development of digital forensic, ITSM with drills, and practical deployment for cyber investigation.

The purpose of this training program is major to present the recent development of cyber investigation science in Taiwan in both lawful enforcement agencies and solution providers for the past 10 years. For the past 2 decades, Taiwan society deeply suffered the impacts of cyber threat by different ways, and total damage was accumulated to multi trillion US dollars. Taiwan lawful enforcement agencies set up cyber crime prevention unit in 2005 and worked with different sects of solution providers and researchers in institutes to develop different high tech forensic tools. Up to now, Taiwan LEA plays a very important role to prevent cyber crime in Far Eastern region with counter parts in Korea, China, Vietnam, Philippines…etc.

Among such development, Decision Group also helps polices of Taiwan and other countries to develop and deploy effective lawful interception systems against cyber crimes. For the past few years, Taiwan police broke down several significant cross-border cyber criminal gangs and arrested several hundred cyber criminals by the help of DG products. At this moment, there are wired and wireless lawful interception products from Decision Group for fulfillment of versatile demanding of enterprises, government agencies, telecom service providers, school boards, and lawful enforcement agencies. “We deeply hope that every police man and woman in this class can benefit from this training program with all skills and experience from those senior experts,” said Casper, CEO of Decision Group, “and, most important, the international cooperation link to prevent borderless cyber crimes can be set up among police from those different countries.”

Most of Korean policemen in this program also thought this training program a very special one and useful for their investigation task. This is the second police delegation group from Republic of Korea since 2010. Through this training, Taiwan senior cyber police also learn a lot from these Korean police on cyber and social environment in different country. It will be of great help for both sides in the cooperation of cross-border cyber crime prevention.

In 2012, Decision Group plans to enhance the content of cyber crime investigation with more experience experts and more newly development technology for participants of the world in order to enhance international cooperation against more and more cross-border cyber crimes.
